    Notes:

There seemed to be two George Steadmans in this family; however, I believe that there was really only one. This family seems to have an issue with giving accurate ages in census and other forms and George does not seem to be an exception.

A George Steadman is listed as age 8, born NC, on the 1880 census and on the 1900 census, as part of the family with his father, he is listed as age 18, born October 1881 in SC, and just recently married to Alice. I would assume that this 10 year discrepacy in ages gave rise to the idea that the George born in 1871/1872 had died and family had a second George Steadman.

In 1910 census, he is listed as age 28, born NC, but in 1920, he is listed as age 48, born SC, when just married to Rosa Lee Turner. However, in 1930, he is listed as age 40, born in NC. On his death certificate in 1934, his wife Rosa informed them that he was born 21 November 1884 in South Carolina. His headstone at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Greer gives his borth as 22 November 1884 and death as 13 March 1934.
