    Notes:

    It would seem that as she got older, she reported an increasing age. In 1851 census she was age 40, consistent with an 1811 date of birth. In 1861 census, after she became a widow, she was listed as age 58 indicating an 1803 birth. However, she gave birth to daughter Margaret in 1855 which is not likely for a woman of about 52 years. In 1871, she was listed as age 68, also indicating a birth about 1803. Her death registration in 1878 gave her age as 80 which would put her birth as about 1798. There is no evidence that she died around 1855, and that John Stedman remarried another Mary before he died in 1856.
