Dr. Williard George Steadman, Jr., was in the Navy as a doctor and liked to travel. While in Germany in the early 1930s he met and married Marianne Brinckman who was only 16 at the time. He was about 50. They had two sons in Germany and came to the US on the North German Lloyd "Braman" in September of 1935. They left on 27 September and arrived in new York on 3 October 1935 on a trip of six days.
