Father of Algona Man Dies Dec. 24
Funeral services for Walter D. Stedman, 85, of Fairmont, Minn., father of Walter Peterson of Algona, were held at the Church of Christ in Fairmont on Monday, December 27. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Algona.
Born April 10, 1886 in Webster County, Neb., Mr. Stedman moved to Algona in 1917. He married Sylvia Chapin in June of 1920 and she died in 1924. He moved to Minnesota and farmer in the Mountain Lake and Sherburn areas and was married to Lottie H. Walker on Dec. 24, 1941. They went to Austin in 1942 where he was employed by the Hormel Co. until retiring in 1958. He lived in Austin until the death of Mrs. Stedman in 1970 when he went to Fairmont.
Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Herman Janssen of Sherburn, Minn.; several step children, two brothers and two sisters.

BIOGRAPHY
SHERBURN: A Celebration of Life Service for Mary Groskreutz, 89, of Sherburn, Minnesota, will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sherburn, Minnesota with Rev. Steven D. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the
Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.
Mary died on Friday afternoon, March 12, 2010, at the Trimont Health Care Center, Trimont, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Kramer Funeral Home, Sherburn, Minnesota and one hour prior to the service at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Mary Ruth Stedman was born on September 12, 1920 to Walter and Sylvia (Chapin) Stedman at Algona, Iowa. She was baptized on January 3, 1933 and confirmed in 1958 at Marble, Minnesota. Mary received her education at Sherburn Public Schools. On August 30, 1937 she was united in marriage to Herman Janssen at Spirit Lake, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed near Montery until moving to Sebeka and then to Bovey. They later moved back to Sherburn. Herman died on June 10, 1972. On May 17, 1975, Mary was united in marriage to Paul Groskreutz at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn. After their marriage they lived in Sherburn. On January 2, 2005, they moved into Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn. Mary became a resident of the Trimont Health Care Center on March 27, 2009. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn, its Senior Lutherans and Ladies Aid. Mary belonged to Christian Women's in Fairmont. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, watching the Minnesota Twins on television, bowling, reading, cooking, gardening, listening to old time music and going to dances at the Fox Lake Ballroom.

Dorothy Nadine Nelson was born January 19, 1930 to Mike and Lillian (Stedman) Nelson in Stacyville, Iowa. She attended school in Welcome.
On February 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Dean Campe at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Welcome. Dean died on July 12, 1978. In 2000, she moved to Fairmont, Minnesota. Dorothy was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church in Welcome until its closing. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and going shopping with her sisters. When the opportunity permitted she enjoyed playing cards, going to dances, working in her yard and garden.
Dorothy died on Saturday morning, June 24, 2006 at Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health System in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of seventy-six years.

FAIRMONT - Memorial services for Glen V. Stedman, 85, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont with military honors provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County VFW Post 1222. Inurnment will be at a later date in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Glen passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 29, 2013, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, Minn. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Lakeview Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services Friday at Lakeview Funeral Home.

Glen Vernon Stedman was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Stacyville, Iowa, the son of William and Clara (Young) Stedman. Glen enlisted in the U.S. Army on Dec. 6, 1950. He achieved the rank of Corporal (T) and earned an honorable discharge on Sept. 21, 1952. On Jan. 1, 1954, Glen was united in marriage to Sylvia Sager at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont. This union was blessed with five children:?Cherise, Susan, James, Bernita and David. The couple resided in Fairmont where Glen worked as a carpenter for Walt Marquart. He later worked at Railway Motors until his retirement. Glen and Sylvia shared 59 years together. Glen was a member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont. He also held a life membership in the Martin County VFW Post 1222.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sylvia Stedman of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Cherise Shimmel and her husband, John, of Fairmont, Minn., Susan Albers and her husband, Mark, of Fairmont, Minn., James Stedman and his wife, Bonnie, of Delavan, Minn., Bernita Hansen and her husband, Jack, of Racine, Wis., and David Stedman of Fairmont, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Tom, Kyle, Jessica, Amanda, Cody, Cassidy and Dylan; five step-grandchildren, Stacy, George, Jim, Jerry and Jenine; three great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Stedman of Cedar Creek, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, William and Clara Stedman, Glen was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Elsie Sager; grandson, Eric Stedman; and brother, Wayne Stedman.

CEYLON - Celebration of Life services for Linda J. Hoppe, 65, of Ceylon, formerly of Trimont, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Waverly Lutheran Church, rural Trimont, Minn., with Pastor Gerald Giese officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairmont, Minn.
Linda was called to her eternal rest on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 27, 2013, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident west of Fairmont. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Family Funeral Home, Trimont, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Linda Jean Janssen was born Sept. 16, 1947, to Herman and Mary (Stedman) Janssen in Wadena, Minn. She was baptized on June 19, 1948, at the Lutheran church in Nimrod, Minn., and later confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Marble, Minn. Linda was a 1965 graduate of Greenway High School in Coleraine, Minn. She then was employed in the office at Railway Motors in Fairmont, First National Bank, Fairmont Foods, Peerless Cleaners and the Yarn Shop all in Fairmont. On July 6, 1968, she was united in marriage to Virgil Spiegeler at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn. After their marriage, they lived in Fairmont and owned and operated Spur Gas Station. Virgil died Oct. 7, 1985. On June 20, 1987, she was united in marriage to Dennis Hoppe at Waverly Lutheran Church in rural Trimont. After their marriage, they lived in rural Trimont, where they raised animals of all sorts. They later moved into Trimont. Linda was employed at Peaceful Family Products in rural Trimont, COR in Sherburn and together with Dennis owned and operated Crafts and More Shop in Trimont. In 1993, she obtained her real estate license and worked under Les Peterson. She later was a Realtor for Krueger Realty in Fairmont and later obtained her broker license. Together with Dennis, they opened Countywide Real Estate in Fairmont, and operated it until selling it to Lee Porter in 2010. She remained on staff.
Linda was a member of Waverly Lutheran Church. She was involved in many community events and enjoyed helping others. She was a member of Trimont Chamber of Commerce, where she served in many positions and at many events. Linda also volunteered at the Salvation Army in Fairmont and the Historical Society in Trimont, where she served on its board. If you needed anything, she would be there. She greatly enjoyed reading, listening to music, going up north, watching old movies, day camping and traveling and visiting with her family and friends. She had a love for animals especially her miniature sheltie dogs.
As we come together to celebrate the life of Linda Hoppe, we must remember she passed on doing what she loved. In her many glorious years, she started a family, ran a business and a marriage with Dennis Hoppe, her husband, of Trimont-Ceylon, Minn.; one daughter, Melanie (Eric) Muller of Ceylon, Minn.; one son, Roger Spiegeler/Kim Marlin of Ceylon; step-son, Todd Hoppe/Angela Bursel of Fairmont, step-daughter, Wanita Hoppe of Fairmont; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Pavich and Judith Nielsen both of Sherburn, Wendy (Dennis) Beaulieu of Babbit, Minn., Penny (Tom) Claussen of Sherburn and Sharon (Doyle) Moeller of rural Dunnell; step-father, Paul Groskreutz of Sherburn; brothers-in-law, John (Adele) Hoppe of Gardnerville, Nev., Curt (Darlis) Hoppe of rural Trimont; sister-in-law, Pam (Dennis) Faber of rural Sherburn; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Spiegeler; nephew, David Pavich and other relatives.

BURNSVILLE - Funeral services for Sidney H. Vincent, 70, of Burnsville, are pending with Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Sidney passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Southdale Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, after suffering a severe stroke. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.
He is survived by his son, Scott (Rhonda) Vincent of Brooklyn Center; five grandchildren; and one brother, Michael (Paula) Finke of Welcome.
