    Obituary: Mrs. Stedman Dead at 84

    Mechanicville.  Mrs. Sarah Stedman, widow of Byron Stedman, died yesterday afternoon at her home, 17 Newman Ave., following a long illness.  Mrs. Stedman, member of one of the oldest families in Massachusetts, was born in Stockbridge, Mass., 84 years ago.  She had resided in Mechanicville for 26 years.

    Mrs. Stedman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a sister of the late Senator George H. Whitney, this city.

    Survivors are one sister, Miss Pamela F. Whitney, Stockbridge, Mass.; three daughters, Miss Louise Stedman, stenographer at the Champlain Brick Company, here; Mrs. John DeMott, Arlington, NJ; and Mrs. Leland W. Irish, Valatie; and six grandchildren.

    The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the residence.  The Rev. James K. Stewart, pastor of the First presbyterian Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Stillwater Union Cemetery.
