Notes:

In 1931, Mrs. Emma Steedman Mellinger of Toledo received a letter from Rev War veterans office concerning James Blair, a soldier of the Revolution. James Blair enlisted in New Hampshire in February 1781. In 1816 he moved from Vermont to Erie county, Pennsylvania and in 1833 to Thompson, Geauga county, Ohio. In 1836, he was living in Clark County, Ohio, and in 1848 to Pennsylvania to live with grandson. He died between 4 March 1848 and 3 June 1848. He married in 1787, four years after he was discharged.

This was obviously a DAR inquiry trying to connect her ancestor Sarah Blair with a Revolutionary War soldier.
