Elmer William Haas was born February 2, 1919 in Phelps County, Missouri at 3:00 a.m. to the late Ernest Herman Haas and Evelena (Stedman) Haas and passed away at 4:50 p.m. on September 29, 2007.
Elmer graduated from Rolla High School in 1937. Since High School, Elmer has farmed.
During WWII (1942-1946) he served in the U.S. Army.
On April 8, 1950 he married Anna Louise Roush in Jefferson City, MO and two this union three children were born, Brenda K. Haas Lane, William K. Haas, and Judith A Haas King. Anna preceded Elmer in death in 1959 after a long illness.
In 1957, Elmer started working as a claims representative with the Missouri State Unemployment Office in Rolla. Elmer became office manager before retiring in 1982 after 25 years of service.
In 1971, Elmer remarried. He married Helen Rose McNickle-Rowe. Later they divorced.
Mr. Haas is survived by his children, Brenda Lane and husband David, of Rolla, William K. Haas, of Jefferson City, MO, and Judith King and husband DeVerne, of Rolla; four grandchildren, Christy A. (Lane) Kleffner, of Rolla, Greg D. Lane, of Rolla, Christopher E. King, of Warrensburg, MO, and Kelly A. King, of Columbia, MO; one great grandchild, Caitlyn Kleffner, of Rolla; sisters, Elsie Chrisco and the late Howard T. Chrisco, of Rolla, and Opal Bennett-Domeyer and Rick Domeyer, of Salem, MO; nieces and nephews, Larry and Connie Chrisco, of Rolla; Joyce Bennett-Jones, of Salem, Leland and Sue Chrisco, of Rolla, Bill & Liz Bennett, of Steelville, Gary and Beth Bennett, of Springfield, MO., Karen and Eddie Osmon, of Cartwright, OK, and Denise Peoples, also of Cartwright, and many cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services for Elmer Haas will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the Null & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 1st, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association. All arrangements are under the direction of the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
