    KUHN, John Fentress

    Died suddenly on Monday, August 6, at his home in Ipswich, MA. Born on March 3, 1942, he was the son of the late Fentress Hill Kuhn and Mary Rutherfurd Pierrepont Kuhn. He grew up in Boise, Idaho. John graduated from St. Paul's School in Concord, NH in 1961. He then taught Latin and German at Le Rosey School in Rolle, Switzerland. In 1965, he graduated from Harvard with Honors in Italian language and literature. He was a member of the freshman swim team and of the A.D. Club. He moved to New York City and attended New York University, where he did graduate work in statistics, psychology and sociology. After working as a portfolio manager in New York, John moved back to the Boston area. In 1977, he moved to Ipswich to have a family. He worked in finances at J.P. Chase, Inc., Rollert & Sullivan, Homans McGraw Trull Valeo & Co. and at H.C. Wainwright & Co. Tiring of the commute to Boston, he decided to work from home, managing portfolios for ALM Advisors of Pasadena, CA. Some of John's many interests were languages, cooking, backgammon, watching birds, tennis and, most recently, table tennis. He was a member of U.S.A. Table Tennis, the governing body for the Olympic sport of table tennis in the United States. He is survived by his wife Sarah Stedman Kuhn, his son Timothy Kuhn, and his sisters, Nathalie Browne of Jupiter, FL, and Evelyn Frost of Brookline, MA. Gifts in John's memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or the Mass Audubon Society. Services for John will be private. A Memorial Service will held in the fall.

    John Fentress Kuhn

    John Fentress Kuhn, 65, died suddenly on Monday, August 6, 2007 at his home in Ipswich. He was born on March 3, 1942, the son of the late Fentress Hill Kuhn and Mary Rutherfurd Pierrepont Kuhn.

    In 1977 Mr. Kuhn moved to Ipswich. He was a co-agent of the Friends of Goodale Orchard, a group which bought the Argilla Road property, placed a conservation restriction on it and eventually sold it to Max Russell.
    He grew up in Boise, Idaho. Mr. Kuhn graduated from St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H. in 1961. He then taught Latin and German at Le Rossey School in Switzerland.

    After working as a portfolio manager in N.Y., he moved back to the Boston area and worked in the financial business of JP Chase Inc., Rollert & Sullivan, Homans McGraw Trull Valeo & Co. and at HC Wainwright & Co.
    Tiring of the commute to Boston, Mr. Kuhn decided to work from home managing portfolios for ALM Advisors of Pasadena, Cal.

    He is survived by his wife, Sarah Stedman Kuhn; his son, Timothy Kuhn, and his sisters, Nathalie Browne of Jupiter, Fla. and Evelyn Frost of Brookline. Services will be private. A memorial will be held in the fall.
