G. Hartley Lythgoe "A Champion to the End"

G. Hartley Lythgoe, 68, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2002, after a paralyzing five year battle with Multiple System Atrophy.

Hartley was born on August 28, 1934, in Murray, Utah, to George and Lillie (Jardine) Lythgoe. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Mahoney, in the Salt Lake Temple, on August 28, 1953. He served two years for the US Army. An active member of the LDS Church, he served a work mission to Adam-Ondi-Ahman, Mo.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Patricia (Kevin Merkley), Scot (Jan Morris), Lane (Laurie Anderson), and Jillyn (Rick Klein); a foster daughter, Yvonne Tahy; his sister Jacqueline (Ab Winterrose) and Sandra (Bud Sulser); 18 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2002, at the Heber East Stake Center (2395 S. 1200 E.) at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the LDS church and on Thursday, prior to the services, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the LDS church. Interment at the Heber City Cemetery.
