    Notes:

    Mr. Amos Wheeler, the son of Samuel Wheeler and Mary Taft, was the father of Gardner Wheeler. This lineage was approved for acceptance into the Society of Mayflower Descendants in 2003, using cemetery records of reinterment from Greenwich cemetery to Quabbin Park cemetery in 1936. Amos Wheeler was child iv (sixth generation) on page 107 of Mayflower Families Through Five Generations, Volume 13, Third Edition, William White. Unfortunately, the birthdate for fifth generation Samuel Wheeler on page 106 was printed incorrectly, but the correct date was on page 37 with his fourth generation parents who appeared on page 36 in greater detail. Actual burial information was lacking for the colonial ancestors of Amos Wheeler.

    Sometime between the birth of their eldest daughter in 1810 at Petersham, and the birth of their second daughter in Greenwich, Gardner Wheeler and his wife became residents of the town of Greenwich, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States.

    Gardner Wheeler was a seventh generation descendant of William White who was a passenger on the ship Mayflower.

    The town of Greenwich, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States was disincorporated to make way for the Quabbin Reservoir.

    Although the death of Gardner Wheeler was recorded in 1848 in Greenwich, a notation of 1828 was affixed to the list of persons belonging to Greenwich which died out of town, likely added by a later hand rather than as part of the original record.

    His grave was removed from its original site in Greenwich Cemetery, Block 15, Lot 295, Grave 3, to the Quabbin Park Cemetery, Lot 468, Grave 8, at the request of lot representative Stanley T. Wheeler by undertaker N.L.H.(J.) according to a copy of a file card at the cemetery building on the grounds.
