  	Philip Steadman, Feb. 2015: "1925 - My father Irvin Oldfield (from this year in Irvin Steadman) of 40 High Street, Wombwell, married my mother Emily Hill of 4 New Street, Darfield, on Tuesday, 14 April of that year at All saints Parish Church, Darfield, in the Presence of Mabel Kelly and Charles "Ozzi" Edward Johnson who would marry later and become life long friends of Mum and Dad. Both Ozzi and Dad, of Vin as he was known, were coal miners at this time at Wombwell main colliery. "From Oldfield to Steadman, What's in a name? Mum once related to Sue and myself a little story about Dad's name. A short time before she married Irvin, her mother Caroline sent her round to see Patience. She was told in no uncertain terms to ask her what Irvin's 'correct name' was. Sounds like village gossip here. Emily was informed it was Steadman!  Ond so it was, and still is, but surely it must be Oldfield. "During the same conversation with Mum, she was asked by Sue if she knew where Patience and her family had lived. Her reply was Liverpool; 'I think they were quite well off you know.' This answer confirms research for Patience in the 1901 Census; not true, of course. "The only documents, as far as I know where Dad's fullname of Irvin Oldfield Steadman appears in full, in on his marriage and death certificates." George Ellis Oldfield was named as father of Irvin on marriage certificate.
