  Notes	Born at 27 Essex Street, Cambridgeport, Middlesex Co, MA.  Graduate of Rindge Technical High School.  Had his own business and dealt in rubber. Traveled to Cuba often and frequently took his young daughter with him. His business extended into Canada before his death. He ran Stedman Rubber Company in Boston Rubber district. One of his employees about 1920 was Prescott Bush, the father of President George Bush. Birth certificate Marriage certificate - 1st marriage.  They were married early in the morning so they could catch a train back East.  They met at a church function, possibly a picnic. Divorced in Reno, NE (filed 15 May 1934) so he could marry his "nurse," also named Helen. Death certificate:  James H Stedman, d. Stedman, of Cambridge, Mass, and Miss Gracia B Holt of New Sharon, ME." (Maine State Archives has year of m. as 1879.  This is incorrect, as documented by a page of a diary written by James Winchell Smith, a resident of New Sharon.  The notation reads, "Kittie Holt married", and was made on Jun 13, 1872.  In 1986 this diary was in the possession of James Wesley Smith also of New Sharon.  Since that time the Town Clerk of New Sharon went to the original document and noted that this date was correct.  The town clerk said she would send the information to the State Archives in Augusta for correction.)
