18 June 1900 census has him and wife Hattie living in Enfield, in enumeration district 133, supervisors district 26. Enumerator was Allyn George Bridge, a first cousin. No children at that date. Occupation listed as a manufacturer, so he may have rejoined Gordon Brothers.
With brother W. W. Gordon, bought 388 acres of "Powder Hollow" in 1917 from Hercules Powder Company (duPonts). Also with brother, he started Gordon & Gordon -- a company that removed vegetable material from wool (scouring) by exposing it to HCl gas [not liquid], then neutralizing the wool with a carbonate wash.
Died from a heart ailment induced by other complications at 1 AM Sunday morning, Mar 20, 1938. MAG's father (Alexander Gordon) claimed that he had diabetes but refused to take insulin and also claimed that to have a second child (Alec), Howard Gordon had some mysterious medical operation in 1903.
