  	Ronald M Gillenwaters NAPLES, FL - Ronald M. Gillenwaters, D.D.S., M.A.G.D., better known as "Gilly" or "Doc" to his friends, passed peacefully on Monday morning, Sept. 27, 2010 at AVOW Hospice in Naples, FL. He was born Jan. 4, 1935 in Rushville, IL, to Merritt and Margaret Gillenwaters. He joined the Naval Reserve in high school and was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1956, serving aboard the US Macon. He chose the field of dentistry as his career and was a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. in 1962. He practiced his profession in Springfield, Ill before moving his family to Naples, where he had offices in both Naples and Ft. Myers Beach. He belonged to the St. Louis Dental Research Group and the L.D. Panky Institute where he received the necessary requirements to attain the Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry and ultimately the Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. He loved his profession and excelled in all the diversities of dentistry until his retirement. He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Hillyer, sharing an adventure that spanned over 57 years. She survives along with 5 wonderful children; Teresa Lynn Sapp of Asheville, NC., Lisa Anne Gillenwaters of Denver, CO., Dr. William Merritt Gillenwaters and wife Julie of Marco Island, FL, Melissa Beth Ashworth of Ft Myers, FL. and Michelle Renee Gillenwaters, at home. He attended church at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, FL and was a member of the American Legion John F. Murphy Post 303, also in Bonita Springs. He loved boating and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and playing golf at Imperial Golf Course. He was a "John Wayne" type of guy and he will be deeply and lovingly missed. There will be a private memorial of his life on Oct 9th at First Presbyterian Church and an open Post Veterans Memorial Service at the American Legion in Bonita Springs at 1:00Pm on Sun., Oct. 10th.
