- Anderson – Mackay
A picturesque wedding took place Wednesday evening, September 18th, at 8 p.m., in Trinity Episcopal church at Seattle, Washington, when Miss Bessie Josephine Mackay, daughter of Lieut. Colonel and Mrs. Joseph Mackay, was united in marriage to Mr. J. Edward Anderson, son of Mr. Amandus Anderson.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Charles Stanley Mook, and during the signing of the register, Mrs. Charles Allen Paul sang two numbers, "Dear Heart I Love You" and "I Love You Truly," and Mr. J. Edmonde Butler played throughout the entire service. The church was decorated with pink and white asters, standards of them marking the center aisle.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was gowned in ivory lace and georgette. She wore a veil of lace edged tulle, and carried roses, lillies of the valley and sweet peas. Mrs. A. M. Sparling, of Abbotsford, B.C., sister of the bride, was matron of honor, wearing a gown of apricot taffeta, bouffant style with black picture hat, and carried roses showered with sweet peas. Little Mary Mackay, niece of the bride, was dressed in blue taffeta and carried a basket of old fashioned flowers.
Mr. Herbert Landeen was best man and the ushers were Messrs. H. B. Doll and W. A. Tate, the groom's fraternity brothers.
The reception following the service was held at the family residence at 137 Sunnyside Avenue, which was decorated with asters and standards of gladioli and autumn leaves. Lieut. Colonel and Mrs. Mackay and Mr. Anderson assisted the bridal party to receive. Mrs. Mackay was gowned in chanel blue with blue hat and wore a corsage of violets and roses. Mrs. Frederick England and Mrs. W. J. Mackay presided over the urns and were assisted by Misses Evelyn Root, Helen Dagg, Daphne Tilton, Susan Waterman and Kathryn Stith.
The bride attended the University of Washington and Mr. Anderson is a graduate of that Institution and is affiliated with Theta Kappa Theta and Beta Alpha Psi fraternities.
