Notes |
- Sheryl Miller, April 2014:
"I wrote about Captain Isaac Stedman and his family in Chapter VI, Section V-1, in the [my] family history/genealogy. On pages 34 and 35 in Chapter IV, "George Stedman (II) and His Family....," the Administration of George Stedman (Jr.) , filed July 22, 1882 [in Union County, Dakota Territory (South Dakota)], by his son Anthony Steadman, identifies George's heirs [his children] as:
Marrice Steadman
Sarah Hemstock
John Steadman
Samuel Steadman
Isaic Steadman
George Steadman
Ann Hemstock
William Steadman
Mary Jane Holmes
Betsy Hemstock
petitioner, Anthony Steadman
wife, Jane Steadman.
The children were not listed in order.
My mother (born in 1907), Lois (Steadman) Lehman (born 1908), and their cousins of the same generation, were all aware that Captain Isaac Stedman of Chicago was George's oldest son. It was Lois (Steadman) Lehman, a descendant of Maurice Steadman, who sent me the picture (in 1973) of Isaac Stedman with his nieces, nephew, and niece's husband.
