    Notes 
    • In 1850 Census he was listed as a carpenter.  In 1860 Census,  Brooks Twp., Newaygo Co., MI, p. 964 indicates he was a merchant.  Three other men were living with them; a clerk, a blacksmith, and a saloon keeper.

      In 1871 he was contracted to clear land for the railroad 3 miles south of Newaygo.

      He is listed as Gideon O. Graver in the Michigan Death Index, a farmer, who died of a kidney complaint at 64 y 4 m 22 d's old.  He is listed as married.  His gravestone clearly says 69 yrs old which is supported by Bill Graves submitted birth date.

      In "The First White Settlers of Newaygo Co.", there is a reference to a Graves and Son Hardware Store in Hesperia, but it is unknown who the owner was.
