    • OGDEN, Utah - Dale Hubbard died peacefully at home of pancreatic cancer on Thursday, February 12, 2004, at 6 p.m. in the evening, with his beloved wife by his side. He was born May 24, 1925, in Grace (Bench), Idaho, to Charles W. and Elsie J. Dalton Hubbard. Upon graduation from Grace High School, he was inducted into the U.S. Navy, and served three years in World War II.

      While studying welding at Utah Agricultural College in Logan, Utah, he married Nona N. Byington in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple August 29, 1947.

      Dale worked at the sawmill in Willets, Calif., and then moved to Ogden, where he spent the remaining 54 years of his life, 30 of which were spent working as an equipment specialist for Hill Air Force Base. He was the water master for the Mound Fort Ditch Company for three years. He was also a fruit farmer. He and Nona sold raspberries for 40 years.

      Dale was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as president of the MIA, president of the elder's quorum, counselor of the high priest group, missionary in the Seventies Quorum, and building librarian.

      He always had a joke, story and smile for everyone he met. He loved talking to people. His personality will be greatly missed.

      Dale is survived by his wife, Nona; a son, Steven D. (Tamara) Hubbard, Clinton, Utah; a daughter, Lana K.H. Hall, North Ogden, Utah; two grandchildren, Cameron and Shanda, and one foster grandchild, Emily Sawyer; two brothers, Merrill (Shirley) Hubbard, Grace, Idaho, and Wayne (Barbara) Hubbard, Logan, Utah; two sisters, Ora Meacham, Soda Springs, Idaho, and Cleone (Don) Dalley, Logan.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elvin and John (Jack), and one sister, Melba.

      Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at 1 p.m., at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Garth P. Bodily from the Lorin Farr Third Ward officiating.

      Interment will be at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, Ogden, Utah.
