  Notes	In great part because of the 1790 census of Berlin where Charles Stedman, Jr., a Thomas Stedman, and a John Stedman were all listed, I have placed Thomas as a brother of Charles. I have absolutely no evidence to back this up. I have not yet identified John. This Thomas Stedman may be a Thomas Stedman born in Groton about 1750. And John may be tied to the Groton family and it may be a coincidence that they were in Berlin in 1790. However, the families that Thomas married into is deeply aligned with the Hartford Stedman families, not the New London area Stedman families. Much more research is required into Connecticut records. _____________________ A 1900 Cowles Biography gives the names of Azuba's parents as Thomas Stedman and Elizabeth Watts.  Other sources suggest that her father was Martin Stedman.
