Thomas.  D.  July 28, 1864s; fell leading a charge against the Sioux Indians in Dakota Territory, under command of Gen. Sully. A war correspondent wrote:  "In him was modesty personified and courage incarnate."

68 Eugene L. Millett, 76, died Aug. 12, 2008, in Glendale. He was born Sept. 5, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Eugene proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a barber for 40 years and with his daughters under the name of "Gene Millett & Daughters." Gene will be greatly missed. He will be reunited with his beloved wife, Donna Millett, who passed away in 2001.

He is survived by his daughters, Annette (Dan) Humes and Stephanie (David) McMullen, both of St. Johns; brothers Darrel and Donald; sisters Phyllis and Lois; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
    
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brother David; and grandson Kevin Humes.
    
Graveside services were held Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Westside Cemetery in St. Johns with a visitation at Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns.
   
Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled arrangements.

John Steadman, 83, gravelly voiced character actor who was a longtime editor for the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service. He began his career as a radio announcer in his native Greenville, S.C., and joined the armed forces operation in the 1950s. His movie credits include "Bedknobs and Broomsticks," "Chattanooga Choo Choo" and several Burt Reynolds films including "The Longest Yard," "Gator" and "White Lightning." He also appeared in such television series as "The Outlaw," "The Incredible Hulk," "The Waltons," "Little House on the Prairie," "The Blue Knight," "Adam 12," "Bonanza" and "Wagon Train." On Jan. 28 in Los Angeles.

The Will of John Lawrence furnishes no reason for supposing that he and George were nearly related. All  the families of this name in Watertown, Waltham, and Weston, after the removal of John and his family to Groton, appear to be descended from George, whose genealogy is subjoined.

ARLINGTON - Lillian Sanders Steadman, 89, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at a local hospital.

Funeral: 3 p.m. Friday at Bridgewood Church of Christ. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Lillian Sanders Steadman was born Jan. 1, 1909, in Mount Calm.

She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ and preceded in death by her beloved husband, Homer, with whom she fulfilled a dream to establish Christ's Haven for Children in Keller. Christ's Haven for Children will hold a dedication ceremony for the Steadman cottage at 9:30 a.m. Saturday .

Survivors: Sons, Douglas Steadman of San Antonio and Ernest Steadman of Red Oak; daughters, Carolyn Samsill of North Richland Hills and Sandra Marshall of Arlington; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

R. G. McAbee, 60, for many years a resident of the Roebuck community died at his home near Roebuck at 6:35 p.m. Saturday. Mr. McAbee was well known throughout the county.  He was a successful farmer, a member of the church and the Woodmen of the World.

He is survived by his wife and three sons, Homer McAbee, Spartanburg route 1, Bennie Lee and Oscar McAbee of the Roebuck community four daughters, Mrs. J. J. MCCarter of Moore, Mrs. G. R. Hayes of Spartanburg, Mrs. C. O. Steadman of Roebuck and Miss Adrinah McAbee of Roebuck; one brother G. T. McAbee of Pauline and one sister, Mrs. J. E. Pearson of Moore.  Nine grandchildren also survive.
