    Notes
    • According to the "History of Addison County" (1886), Thomas Goodrich, born in Berskshire County, Massachusettes came to Middlebury, VT at age 17. Thomas first came to Lincoln where he would settle in September of 1799. He married Esther Freeman of New Haven, Vermont in May of 1802. The history of Lincoln's early settlers states "Thomas Goodrich of Massachusetts, purchased 500 acres of land in Lincoln in 1796, on which he located.  He was for a long time the owner and landlord of the first hotel kept in town, held most of the town offices, and for many years paid the heaviest taxes of any man in the township.  Five of his seven children are still living, all but one in Vermont. The farm on which he located is now owned by J. Butterfield." A newspaper article from 1906, about the death of Thomas' daughter, Alzina Dean states "Thomas Goodrich one of the town's pioneers, who was formally well to do, but eventually became poor and endured many hardships..." .  Another article states, of  Thomas Goodrich, "...who for years lived on the farm, now owned by Bert Estey and was for a time prosperous. Eventually , however, he lost his property and endured many hardships."

The dates of when Thomas first settled in Lincoln are in dispute by three years, but the other information such as he was the largest taxpayer in town was collaborated. "The History of Addison County " text also states that Thomas owned over 700 acres, it is possible that he increased his land holdings over time from the original 500 acres.

Thomas and Esther (Freeman) Goodrich are buried in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln, in the upper section.
