  1. 1.  Jonathan BeebeJonathan Beebe was born 19 Aug 1674, New London, New London Co., CT; died 12 Oct 1761, East Haddam, Middlesex Co., CT.

    Notes:

Jonathan Beebe was a land owner.  His ear-mark for cattle was recorded at New London, August 9, 1696.

He settled at Millington, Connecticut, near the northeast corner of Long Pond, in East Haddam, coming form New London, as early as 1704, after the first settlement, and was a man of consequence in the town.  He also owned land in Colchester, for in 1710 at a town meeting of Colchester it was "further granted to Jonathan Beebe to remove the bounds of his farm further northward so as to bring the part into Colchester bounds."  He was a large land holder as the records of Lyme show.  The dates of purchase and sale of lands are from 1738 to 1743 and so on.

He and Elizabeth were both in their 80s when they were married.  Louise Beebe Wilder, in her book on Lucas Beebe of Wakefield, adds a daughter Eleanor but this may or may not be correct.

Jonathan Beebe, the son of Samuel and Mary Keenery Beebe of New London was born about 1674.  He was 87 years of age at death.  He was the first settler in Millington society and settled on the west side of Long Pond of lake in year 1704.

Probably, he went to Colchester with some of early New London settlers in that town and was favorably impressed with lands on Long Pond and decided to settle there within limits of Haddam East.  He was one of the petitioners for Millington society, but was not prominent in town or church affairs.  "Sketches of Early Settlers in East Haddam: Notes from Contributions to History of E.
