Death of Mrs. C. V. Sanford
Mrs. Charles V. Sanford died at her home in Macon, Ga., last Thursday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock, after a long illness.
She is well known in Covington and her death will bring deep regret to many hearts.
Mrs. Sanford was the daughter of Col. Enoch Steadman, of Newton county, who was a leading man of this section, and was at one time president of Georgia senate. She was born in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on Aug. 8, 1848, and was married at Covington, Ga. Dec. 2, 1867, to Mr. Charles V. Sanford, son of the distinquished teacher and author, Shelton P. Sanford, who for so many years, filled the chair of mathematics at Mercer university. After her marriage she and her husband resided for many years at Covington and Conyers where Mr. Sanford conducted successful business enterprises. Afterwards they removed to Macon, where they have since resided.
For the past five years Mrs. Sanford has been a consistant sufferer from ill health, and for two months past has been critically ill. Her patience in suffering and her preparedness for the inevitable end are but additional evidences of her Christian character. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist church at Macon, and was a regular attendant on its service till her failing health forbade.
She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Mary Steadman, of Covington, and five children, Prof. Q. V. Sanford, of the University of Georgia, at Athens: C. D. Sanford, of Macon; Shelton P. Sanford, of Marietta; Paul H. Sanford, of Savannah, and Miss Annie Sanford, of Macon.
The many friends of the family both here and elsewhere, throughout the state, will deeply sympathize with the bereaved family.

Subject: Re: [GACOBB] Oscar Baun KEELER (1882-19150)
Ann,
In the 1900 census for Cobb County, Oscar was enumerated with his widowed mother, Bell, at an address on Cherokee Street in Marietta. To my knowledge, the only high school in the city of Marietta at that time was
Marietta High.
Steadman V. Sanford was likewise enumerated in 1900 in the City of Marietta; his occupation was given as "school teacher". If this is the same SV Sanford and his place of residence had not changed during the two years prior, I would assume that he was teaching in 1898 at Marietta High School.
Good luck!
