She moved to Berkeley, Calif., in 1939 and lived there for 55 years. She was a member of Phi Mu sorority.  Mary Ellen was the mother of five children, grandmother of seven, aunt of Lucia Batchelder Johnson '71, 1607 Skye Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27516, and cousin of the late Verna Noll '16.
