Charles Henry Budd, Sr. b 21 Mar 1848 married first Carrie Adaline Eastman b 6 Oct 1853 in March of 1878. He was already settled in Montevideo, Minnesota and they made their home there. Ethel was born to them 25 Aug 1879. Carrie's mother took sick with typhoid and Carrie returned to take care of her. Her mother Eunice wife of Anson died 5 Jan 1881 and Carrie died on the 10th. Ethel being less than a year and a half was too much for her father to take care of. His sister Mary took Ethel in and raised her as a Stedman and she, Ethel, later married a Steadman. In between times she took her higher education at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota and I believe taught a year or two before returning to New York on a visit and was smitten with Durward settled with him and raised two children, Loraine and Holmes. Holmes was the name Charles Holmes Steadman went by in his younger days. I do have a couple of pictures of Ethel, one as a young lady and another with her teenagers on a visit to Wisconsin where we lived at the time. Bert Budd
