Jagger mourns mother's death
Mick Jagger's mother Eva has died after receiving treatment for a heart condition, a spokesman for the rock star said.
The Rolling Stones frontman is flying back to the UK from the Cannes Film Festival in France to be with his father Joe.
Eva, 87, died at the Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon, London, where she had been seriously ill since last month.
Mick, 56, has made frequent visits to the hopital to be by her bedside with brother Chris and other members of his family.
A spokesman for the Jagger family said they were "deeply saddened" and asked for their privacy to be respected.
Eva was last seen in public in March, when she and Joe, also 87, accompanied their famous son on a visit to his old school in Dartford, Kent to open a £2.5m community arts centre.
The couple lived close to Mick's mansion in Richmond, south west London and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in December.
Eva followed her son's career closely, keeping an extensive scrapbook of pictures and cuttings, and once reprimanded Stones bassist Bill Wyman for making an incorrect statement in a book.
She was said to have been the dominant force in the Jagger household and was held in high regard by Mick.
She once said of him in an interview: "People are always asking what it's like to have a famous son.
"The answer is simple - to me he's just a son. I don't think of him as a star."

Jagger bids farewell to mother
Friends and family of Mick Jagger's mother, Eva, have paid their last respects at her funeral.
The Rolling Stones star performed a gospel song, Will The Circle Be Unbroken, with his brother Chris at the service, also attended by their father, Joe.
Stones guitarist Keith Richards flew in from the US especially for the ceremony, which he attended alongside drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood at St Andrew's Church in Ham, Surrey.
Mrs Jagger, 87, died last Thursday after spending a month in Parkside Hospital, Wimbledon, with a heart condition.
Mick Jagger was accompanied by his former partner, model Jerry Hall, and the couple's four children. Also among the 200 mourners were his daughter Jade Jagger and former wife Bianca.
No.1 Fan
Chris and his sons were pallbearers for Mrs Jagger's coffin.
Mick flew into the UK last week as soon as he heard of his mother's death, breaking off meetings at the Cannes Film Festival to comfort his 88-year-old father.
Mrs Jagger was one of her son's biggest fans and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the band's career.
She was last seen in public in March attending the opening of a £2.25m arts centre at Dartford Grammar, Kent, which was named after Mick.

- At the time of their son Percy's death in 1936, Gertrude was living back in Kent where their daughter Eva was married 1940. However, as son Cyril was married in Dartford in 1929, it is expected that she returned to England with most of her children before 1929.
I have no evidence that either re-married.
