COALVILLE--Ralph LaVar Judd, 92, loving husband, father, grandfather great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him went home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999 at 11:34 a.m. after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Hoytsville, Utah on Feb. 14, 1907 to George H. and Rose Sargent Judd. He married Emma Elizabeth Brown on June 25, 1930 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died July 21, 1976.
Ralph homesteaded in Spring Canyon and later traded the land for ground in Grasscreek. He operated Grasscreek for over 50 years. He served a LDS mission in the Texas South Mission with his beloved wife Emma from 1973 to 1975, making many friends which he has kept in touch with the rest of his life. He was employed for 18 years for the Utah State Road Dept. He loved the ranch, horses, sheep and the out-of-doors. He was known as "The Chief" by many friends and loved ones.
On Feb. 4, 1977 he married Violet Staples. They were devout temple workers for 12 years together. Ralph totaled over 25 years as a veil worker in the Salt Lake Temple where he had numerous treasured friends whom he associated with.
Surviving are his wife, Violet, Coalville; son, Edwin LaVar (Bud) and Meresa Judd, Coalville; daughter, Kathleen and Roy Bolinder, Cheyenne, Wyo.; three step-sons and three step-daughters, William Paul Staples, Coalville; Carol France, Coalville; Norman Dale Staples, Denver, Colo.; Rodney Carl Staples, West Weber, Ut.; Violet Marie Cowley, Logan, Ut.; Glenda Jean Holt, Salt Lake; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Virginia Pace, Bountiful; Lorraine Wynn, Ogden; Lucille Ercanbrack, Provo; and Kathryn Carmichael, Bountiful, He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 6, 1999 at 12 noon in the Coalville Stake Center with Bishop Chris Boyer officiating. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Coalville, Sunday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Monday at the Church one hour prior to services. Interment, Hoytsville Cemetery.
