    • FUNERAL SERVICES HELD - The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Emma (Hoar) Abbott of King street, Littleton Common, widow of Charles Abbott, was held from the David L. Greig and Son funeral home on Main Street, Westford, Saturday afternoon, preceded by services at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Grant F. Haskell, pastor of the First Congregational Unitarian church.

      The service and funeral were largely attended by friends and neighbors in the community. Also present was her grand-nephew, Herbert Taynes, recently returned from overseas service in the army.

      Mrs. Abbott, who was the community's oldest resident, was born in Littleton 95 years ago, the daughter of the late Sawyer and Mary Ann (Stone) Hoar, also natives of LIttleton. Educated in the Littleton school system, she was an honorary charter member of the Littleton Women's club and an attendant of the First Congregational - Unitarian church.

      During the service, William E. Boyle played several favorite organ selections of the deceased. Bearers were: James J. Chaple, Allen J. Hathaway, William H. Houde and Stanley F. Conant, all of Littleton. Burial was in the Abbott family lot in Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton, where committal prayers were read by Rev. Mr. Haskell. There were many flowers.
